Steel Garage and Shop Questions
What size steel garage or shop do I need?
It depends on what you will store and build. Measure your largest vehicle or equipment, then add room to open doors, walk around, and work. Tell us what you plan to store and we will help you choose a width, length, and height.
How tall should a steel shop or garage be for an RV?
Eave height and door height both matter for RVs and tall equipment. Tell us the height of your RV or equipment, including roof-mounted items, and we will plan the walls and door openings to clear it.
Can I build a steel garage myself?
Many owners assemble their own garages and shops. Your building package arrives with the parts and components cut and sized for assembly, or you can hire a contractor.
Can I build a man cave or she shed with a steel building?
Yes. Many owners use a steel building for a man cave, she shed, studio, or home gym. Tell us the size you want and how you will use it, and we will plan the openings and options, including insulation, around it. Check with your building department about local rules.
Do you supply doors and windows?
We supply commercial walk doors (man doors). Overhead doors and windows are not included, but we design the building and its openings for the ones you choose, and they are installed by others. Tell us the door and window sizes you plan to use.
Can a steel garage or shop be insulated?
Yes. We supply insulation. Tell us how you will use the space and we will include the right options in your quote.
Can I add on or add a lean-to later?
Yes. Steel buildings can often be designed so bays or lean-tos can be added later. Let us know your plans so the design allows for it.
Do I need a permit for a steel garage or shop?
Requirements vary by county or city. Check with your local building department. Your building is engineered for local codes, with plans prepared for permitting.
Are your buildings designed for snow and wind?
Your building is engineered for the snow and wind loads required at your site. Requirements are set by your local building department.
How long does it take to get a steel garage or shop?
Our current turnaround is 8 to 10 weeks. Timelines can vary with project size, options, and demand.
